Outreach
Although we support such traditional Outreach ministries such as serving in soup kitchens, our primary focus is to partner with the community where we can have a more intentional presence and make a real world change in people’s lives.
Brandon Wilde Episcopal Worship Services
Fr. Glenn coordinates worship services at the Brandon Wilde Retirement Community. Episcopal clergy in the local area participate in presiding over these services for the residents at Brandon Wilde. Contact person: The Rev. Glenn Palmer at rector@holycomforterchurch.org.
The Byllesby Center
The Byllesby Center is a church without a congregation or walls, focused on needs in the Harrisburg community. Its ministry is to the marginalized/the economically challenged/the homeless. Food and hygiene supplies are collected every Sunday in the little red wagon by the front door. All items collected go to local families in need. Non-perishable food items such as rice, sugar, pasta, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and feminine products are needed daily. Canned goods that do not require a can opener are best. Cooper Cards
One of the hardest parts of being incarcerated is loneliness. Many of our incarcerated brothers and sisters never receive a card or letter to connect with the outside world. Cooper Cards tries to connect male and female inmates with a pen pal who will regularly communicate through cards and letters. Your card may be the only thing that keeps that inmate connected. This is a way to “visit the prisoner” without going inside the razor wire fence. Your cards and letters will brighten someone’s day in ways you can never imagine. Kairos Prison Ministry International
Kairos is an ecumenical ministry whose mission is to build and support Christian communities within the prison communities. For several years Holy Comforter has supported Kairos at Leath Correctional Institute for Women in Greenwood, S.C. Random Acts of Christian Kindness
Random Acts of Christian Kindness (R.A.C.K.) cards are available at the welcome table for distribution by parishioners. These cards are given to persons in need of assistance. The card reads, “Please accept this Random Act of Christian Kindness! Pay it forward by carrying out a R.A.C.K. for someone else. The card is placed in a small envelope with either a cash gift or gift card for food. Contact person: Robert Bargeron at bargeronr@gmail.com.
ReStart Bed Ministry
ReStart Augusta provides beds for people in need. ReStart furnishes new beds and bedding for children, families, and veterans in the Augusta area. The delivery of the beds and bedding brings smiles to the faces of children and adults alike and is one step on the road to conducting a normal, self-sufficient life. Scouting

Sensory Santa
The Sensory Santa Ministry provides Christmas spirit to families with special needs children. David and Jenny Quebedeaux create a Santa Visit devoid of bright lights, loud music, and crowds usually encountered at other Santa experiences. Church members serve as elves providing handmade gifts of blankets, hats and scarves. Appointments are made in the months leading up to the Christmas season and provide for a tailored Santa encounter made special for each individual family. Threads of Comfort
Threads of Comfort Ministry is open to anyone interested in serving others by making blankets or quilts for Project Linus. There is a place for anyone interested. You don’t need to know how to sew, knit or crochet. We will need people to cut fabric, roll balls of yarn, and much, much more. Wheelchair Ministry
Volunteers work with a local ministry that collects, refurbishes, and distributes a wide variety of durable medical equipment throughout the CSRA and beyond. Items are distributed at no cost to those in need through a network of organizations, free clinics, rehab facilities, and hospitals. We also provided items to residents in several local nursing homes and to the State Medical Prison in Augusta.
